Boy do I have a lot to learn

I got a new toy yesterday, a Compaq DL380 G2 server... it's sweet

so I'm learning exactly why they are so expensive, these things are very well engineered, and the support that you get from HP is pretty awesome. Thank god for ebay else this thing would have cost an arm and a leg. Now I have to go back to the books and play around with it, vmware, Windows 2003 server and basically get up to speed for my course in December, should be fun, a learning experience at the least.... hopefully I get over this cold I have by then...

anyways, back to the toys :)

More Bad News....

Had to put our cat down today, we had given her to another family to take care of, but I guess the stress got to her and they figure she had a heart condition, which led to a blood clot moving down her aorta and blocking a vein into her leg, she was in tremendous pain, couldn't breathe well, had fluid in her lungs, and the decision was made to put her down. I am going to miss her dearly.

Rest in Peace Suki

Paper, Rock, Scissors

Thought for the Day

I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can
beat scissors, but there's no f*cking way paper can beat rock. Paper is
supposed to magically "wrap around" rock, rendering it immobile?

Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors?
Screw scissors, why can't Paper do this to people?
Why aren't sheets of notebook paper constantly Suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class?

I'll tell You Why--

BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY! A rock would tear that shit up
in 2 seconds. When I play rock/paper/scissors, I always choose rock.
Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I punch them
in the face with my already Clenched fist and say, "Oh sh*t, I'm sorry. I
thought that paper would protect you"

I'm so proud of him

My Dad's Restaurant was recently featured in both a newspaper article and a television interview... Can't help but have a big smile on my face... he's actually doing what he's always dreamed of doing!!

Back from Van

Back from a wonderful trip to Van, got there after a slight delay with Scare Canada, but thankfully they made up for it in the air. Got in on time, picked up my midsize rental ($20 a day with Thrifty, from the Airport!!) but it happened to be a Dodge Caravan... woohoo... I got to drive a minivan, I felt so old...lol..

Friday went downtown, had a great breakfast at the Crowne Plaza (thanks Hafeez!), then had to eat right away again at a really nice Hong Kong style Cafe (mmmm steak..Thanks Imraan!), then it was off to Metrotown for Starbucks and that nite we hit the Au Bar, what a wicked club, got to see Marlon and Sean Wayans there, along with the gay guy from the Longest Yard, pretty casual bunch, just chilled and had a good time, I danced it up and then drove everybody back home safely (thank god I don't drink), saw a nice fight inside the bar where a guy dropped a bouncer, then the bouncers proceeded to beat the shit out of him on the way out of the club before depositing his ass on the curb... poor guy..not, idiot got up again and tried to go after the bouncers, good thing his friends stopped him... silly silly drunk people. Got some sweet ass pictures in the club no doubt... even got to make a 'crossanwich' lol...

Had 2 girls jumping on me at 9 am, slept till 2pm, got up, and headed out, actually stood in line (In line!!) at a restaurant called Anton's pasta bar.. supposedly really good, but gave up after about 20 mins outside in the rain and we headed over to Samba, a fairly decent brazillian all-you-can eat joint.. the food was aiight, service was half decent, overall not a bad deal, but a little pricey at $27/person

checked out a fru fru market called Urban Fare, had some cappa and dessert and it was home to bed... my Aunt has this cat named Sasha, get this, she paints her nails on special occasions, even told me a story of how after going to the vet, decided to reschedule a procedure until later so that she could have time to explain it to the cat... so sweet.. they treat the cat like a member of the family, it's pretty cool...

Met up with fam and friends on Sunday, and then it was off to the airport, got there early, so thanks to the wonderful people at WestJet (and $10) I was able to catch the earlier flight back home (good thing it was delayed by 12 minutes) the landing was pretty awesome, you could see the city, and then we were flying through fog, and BAM!!! we were on the ground, the runway came out of nowhere, pretty awesome... oh and the satellite TV they have on board rocks!!

anyhoo, off to bed and work tomorrow, hope y'alls are doing aiight...

peace
