Marianne Williamson - Our Deepest Fear is that We Are Powerful Beyond Measure

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

The Awakening

The Awakening

A time comes in your life when you finally get it. When in the midst of all your fears and insanity you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out - ENOUGH!

Enough fighting and crying or struggling to hold on. And, like a child quieting down after a blind tantrum, your sobs begin to subside, you shudder once or twice, you blink back your tears and through a mantle of wet lashes you begin to look at the world through new eyes.

This is your awakening. You realize that it's time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change, or for happiness, safety and security to come galloping over the next horizon. You come to terms with the fact that he is not Prince Charming and you are not Cinderella and that in the real world there aren't always fairy tale endings (or beginnings for that matter). and that any guarantee of "happily ever after" must begin with you, and in the process a sense of serenity is born of acceptance.

You awaken to the fact that you are not perfect, and that not everyone will always love, appreciate or approve of who or what you are and its OK. (They are entitled to their own views and opinions.) And you learn the importance of loving and championing yourself, and in the process a sense of newly found confidence is born of self-approval.

You stop bitching and blaming other people for the things they did to you (or didn't do for you) and you learn that the only thing you can really count on is the unexpected. You learn that not everyone will always be there for you, and that it's not always about you. So, you learn to stand on your own and to take care of yourself and in the process a sense of safety and security is born of self-reliance.

You stop judging and pointing fingers, and you begin to accept people as they are, and to over look their shortcomings and human frailties and in the process a sense of peace and contentment is born of forgiveness.

You realize that much of the way you view yourself, and the world around you, is a result of all the messages and opinions that have been ingrained into your psyche. And you begin to sift through all the crap you've been fed about how you should behave, how you should look, how much you shouldn't weigh, what you should wear, where you should shop, what you should drive, how and where you should live, what you should do for a living, who you should sleep with, who you should marry, what you should expect of a marriage, the importance of having and raising children, or what you owe your parents.

You learn to open up to new worlds and different points of view. And you begin reassessing and redefining who you are and what you really stand for. You learn the difference between wanting and needing, and you begin to discard the doctrines and values you've outgrown, or should never have bought into to begin with, and in the process you learn to go with your instincts. You learn to distinguish between guilt and responsibility, and the importance of setting boundaries and learning to say NO. You learn that the only cross to bear is the one you choose to carry, and that martyrs get burned at the stake.

Then you learn about love. Romantic love and familial love. How to love, how much to give in love, when to stop giving, and when to walk away. You learn not to project your needs or your feelings onto a relationship. You learn that you will not be more beautiful, more intelligent, more lovable, or important because of the man or woman on your arm or the child that bears your name.

You learn to look at relationships as they really are and not as you would have them be. You stop trying to control people, situations, and outcomes. You learn that just as people grow and change, so it is with love. and you learn that you don't have the right to demand love on your terms. Just to make you happy. And, you learn that 'alone' does not mean lonely.

And you look in the mirror and come to terms with the fact that you will never be a size 5 or a perfect 10 and you stop trying to compete with the image inside your head and agonizing over how you "stack up." You also stop working so hard at putting feelings aside, smoothing things over, and ignoring your needs.

You learn that feelings of entitlement are perfectly OK. . . and that it is your right to want things that you want. and that sometimes it is necessary to make demands. You come to the realization that you deserve to be treated with love, kindness, sensitivity, and respect, and you will not settle for less. And you allow only the hands of a lover who cherishes you, to glorify you with his or her touch. and in the process you internalize the meaning of self-respect.

And you learn that your body really is your temple. You begin eating a balanced diet, drinking more water, and taking more time to exercise. You learn that fatigue diminishes the spirit and can create doubt and fear, so you take more time to rest. And, just as food fuels the body, laughter fuels our soul, so you take more time to laugh and to play.

You learn that, for the most part, in life you get what you believe you deserve. and that much of life is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You learn that anything worth achieving is worth working for, and that wishing for something to happen is different from working toward making it happen. More importantly, you learn that in order to achieve success, you need direction, discipline, and perseverance.

You also learn that no one can do it all alone and its OK to risk asking for help. You learn that the only thing you must truly fear is the great robber baron of all time: FEAR itself. You learn to step right into and through your fears, because you know that whatever happens you can handle it, and to give in to fear is to give away the right to live life on your terms.

You learn to fight for your life and not to squander it living under a cloud of impending doom. You learn that life isn't always fair, you don't always get what you think you deserve, and that sometimes bad things happen to unsuspecting, good people. On these occasions you learn not to personalize things. You learn that God isn't punishing you or failing to answer your prayers. It's just life happening. And you learn to deal with evil in its most primal state - the ego.

You learn that negative feelings such as anger, envy, and resentment must be understood and redirected, or they will suffocate the life out of you and poison the universe that surrounds you.

You learn to admit when you are wrong and to build bridges instead of walls. You learn to be thankful and to take comfort in many of the simple things we take for granted, things that millions of people upon the earth can only dream about a full refrigerator, clean running water, a soft warm bed, a long hot shower. Slowly, you begin to take responsibility for yourself. by yourself, and you try to make yourself a promise to never betray yourself and to never ever settle for less than your heart's desire. And you hang a wind chime outside your window so you can listen to the wind. And you make it a point to keep smiling, to keep trusting, and to stay open to every wonderful possibility.

Finally, with courage in your heart and with God by your side, you take a stand, you take a deep breath, and you begin to design the life you want to live as best as you can.

Apparently my new hairstyle is a hit!

Damn Chain Letters......

I must send my thanks to whoever sent me the one about rat poo in the glue on envelopes because I now have to use a wet towel with every envelope that needs sealing.

Also, now I have to scrub the top of every can I open for the same reason.

I no longer have any savings because I gave it to a sick girl (Penny Brown) who is about to die in the hospital for the1,387,258th time.

I no longer have any money at all, but that will change once I receive the $15,000 that Bill Gates/Microsoft and AOL are sending me for participating in their special e-mail program.

I no longer worry about my soul because I have 363,214 angels looking out for me, and St. Theresa's novena has granted my every wish.

I no longer eat KFC because their chickens are actually horrible mutant freaks with no eyes or feathers.

I no longer use cancer-causing deodorants even though I smell like a water buffalo on a hot day.

Thanks to you, I have learned that my prayers only get answered if I forward an email to seven of my friends and make a wish within five minutes.

Because of your concern I no longer drink Coca Cola because it can remove toilet stains.

I no longer can buy gasoline without taking a man along to watch the car so a serial killer won't crawl in my back seat when I'm pumping gas.

I no longer drink Pepsi or Dr. Pepper since the people who make these products are atheists who refuse to put "Under God" on their cans.

I no longer use Saran wrap in the microwave because it causes cancer.

And thanks for letting me know I can't boil a cup of water in the microwave anymore because it will blow up in my face...disfiguring me for life.

I no longer check the coin return on pay phones because I could be pricked with a needle infected with AIDS.

I no longer go to shopping malls because someone will drug me with a perfume sample and rob me.

I no longer receive packages from UPS or FedEx since they are actually al Qaeda in disguise.

I no longer shop at Target since they are French and don't support our American troops or the Salvation Army.

I no longer answer the phone because someone will ask me to dial a number for which I will get a phone bill with calls to Jamaica , Uganda , Singapore , and Uzbekistan .

I no longer have any sneakers -- but that will change once I receive my free replacement pair from Nike.

I no longer buy expensive cookies from Neiman Marcus since I now have their recipe.

Thanks to you, I can't use anyone's toilet but mine because a big brown African spider is lurking under the seat to cause me instant death when it bites my butt.

Thank you too for all the endless advice Andy Rooney has given us. I can live a better life now because he's told us how to fix everything.

And thanks to your great advice, I can't ever pick up $5.00 I dropped in the parking lot because it probably was placed there by a sex molester waiting underneath my car to grab my leg.

Oh, and don't forget this one either! I can no longer drive my car because I can't buy gas from certain gas companies!

If you don't send this e-mail to at least 144,000 people in the next 70 minutes, a large dove with diarrhea will land on your head at 5:00 PM this afternoon and the fleas from 12 camels will infest your back, causing you to grow a hairy hump. I know this will occur because it actually happened to a friend of my next door neighbor's ex-mother-in-law's second husband's cousin's beautician...

Have a wonderful day....

A South American scientist from Argentina, after a lengthy study, has discovered that people with insufficient brain activity read their e-mail with their hand on the mouse.

The best break up / cheating letters of all-time...

Fu*kin hilarious. That’s the words you’ll be saying after you read this post. I know these are long to read, however... I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

The following is an actual “email exchange” between a friend of a friend that I know (I hate to drop names, in fear one of them might kill me). In no way is this edited, and in all actuality these letters are verbatim copies. This might not make any sense now… but just wait until you read this unbelievable way to break-up with someone (as if writing emails to each other isn’t already in bad taste to begin with). Fu*kin hilarious. Enjoy…

Chad,

It would be difficult for me to be any more miserable right now, I feel like the worst person ever. First, let me start by saying that I am truly truly sorry, and I hate myself for hurting you. Of all the people in the whole entire world, you were honestly the last personthat I would ever want to wrong in any way. There is no excuse at all for anything that happened, so I won't even try other than to say all of us had WAY too much to drink, and I did a stupid thing. I can handle you being pissed at me, I absolutely deserve it, I can even handle the ugly words that were exchanged between us, what I can't handle is thinking that you see me as a different person. It is weird, I feel like I just went through a horrible break up or something. The world looked funny yesterday, I couldn't crack a smile if you paid me, there are songs I can't listen to, and I just ! feel beyond crushed. Idon't know if you meant everything you said to me, and I am hoping that you didn't. I know that I was wrong on many levels, but I am also hoping that this is something that we can deal with. I know it sounds totally crazy and stupid, but you have come to play such a significant role in my life, I can't imagine my days without you. It is totallystrange and weird to say that, and you could say that my behavior didn't reflect that, and you would be correct. I hate feeling like you hate me, and I hate feeling like all of your friends think I am a terrible person, because I am not. I know there is nothing I can sayor do to take back what happened, but I just want you to know that fighting with you was just about the worst thing I could have ever imagined. It was right up there with one of the ugliest nights of my life, and I would give anything in the world to rewind and fix it.

I am not sure if you will respond to this, part of me thinks that you won't. If not today, then maybe some other time. Also, thanks for getting my stuff together, although I think my sunglasses are still at your house, if you could keep your eyes peeled for them that would be great. I can't even focus or work today, I can't eat, I seriously feel like it was an ugly break up, and I am hoping against hopes that it was not that and you are not done with me. Please don't cut me off, I really don't think I can handle that.

I am so sorry,

Beth

Dear Beth,

Thank you for your concern. I'll be sure to file it away under "L" for "Long-winded diatribes from drunken whores I couldn't care less about".

You did a stupid thing huh? No...doing long division and forgetting to carry the one is "a stupid thing"; Mixing in a red sock with a load of whites is "a stupid thing"; Blowing some guy in a bathroom for 45 minutes while I sit at the bar wondering if you're taking so long because you ate too much bran that morning isn't as much a "Stupid thing as it is grounds for permanent removal from my social calendar.

To be honest, I'm not sure if it was more amusing that you went and degraded yourself in a public toilet not once but twice in a 2 hour span, or that you seemed to think that by saying "Well, I didn't Fuckhim" somehow gave you a clean slate. So forgive me if I couldn't care less if the world "looked funny" to you yesterday. Since your world revolves around blow dryers, goldenretrievers, Prada Bags and Jelly Beans, I'm sure it must have been most unsettling to actually have to consider someone else's feelings for 24 hours straight. The good news for you is that my friends don't think you're a terrible person, they just think you're the average run of the mill cum-guzzling blond who commands about as much respect asyour average child porn collector. I could be wrong but, it's pretty hard to respect some B&T chick who comes out to spend the night at my place even though she's seeing someone else in New jersey and winds up tongue-bathing the taint of anyone who decides 30 minutes of droning commentary on Colin Farrell's new haircut is worth putting up with for a hand job in the men's room. The good thing about being a guy is that when I eventually bump into the young lad who finger-blasted you on top of a towel dispenser last saturday, we'll have a shot and laugh our heads off about the time it happened.

By the way, for the amount of time you claim to spend in spin class you really must be doing something wrong to sport the thunder thighs you do. Watching you parade around my bedroom in a thong was a little like watching sea lions mate. Thought you might like to know.

PS. I BCC'd about 100 people on this email.

Talk to you never,

Chad

Ah, Kids these days

One of my staff members posted this up on a few websites:

To all the lovely women here in Calgary who have those computer frustrations. I am offering to repair your pc's for sexual favours.

Are you tired of not being able to access programs?
Tired of having your computer run slow?
Getting frustrated because you get ridiculous errors?
Interested in buying a new computer, but afraid of being ripped off?
Do you plan on upgrading, but are unsure what you need?

If you answered yes to any of the questions, I urge you to contact me. Why pay an arm and a leg at a local computer shop when you can fulfill one of your fantasies.

Let me know the details of the situation, and we can see what type of resolution we can plan out. I make house calls, or you can arrange to have your computer dropped off, on this note, I don't take "payment" until the computer is fixed. I'm sure you would really appreciate my services. Confidentiality and discretion is assured.

Stupid People, now he'll end up as a Sexual Aid :)

No, that's not a penis pump, Mom. Really

Wed Aug 23, 4:12 PM ET

CHICAGO - Cook County prosecutors say a 29-year-old man traveling with his mother desperately didn't want her to know he'd packed a sexual aid for their trip to Turkey. So he told security it was a bomb, officials said.

Madin Azad Amin was stopped by officials on Aug. 16 after guards found an object in his baggage that resembled a grenade, prosecutors said.

When officers asked him to identify it, Amin said it was a bomb, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Lorraine Scaduto.

He later told officials he'd lied about the item because his mother was nearby and he didn't want her to hear that it was part of a penis pump, Scaduto said.

He's been charged with felony disorderly conduct, said Andrew Conklin, a spokesman with the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Amin faces up to three years in prison if convicted.

Happy Birthday to me!

hehe, so it was my birthday on the 21st, Turned 29 for the first time :(

The day started off fairly ok, got the phone calls the night before and that morning, it's a good thing to get those, :) ended up finally falling off my wonderful Heely's, hurt like hell! what's it with Birthdays, when I turned 28 I yawned and pulled something in my back, couldn't move my neck for like 2 days, and on 29? tried to show off on these wonderful rollie shoes and fell.. oops, slammed my knee and wrist into the hard floor...oweee!!

Had a work thing at lunch where we get all the staff together for a monthly meeting that day.. was somewhat relieved at not having my name on the birthday list up on the projector... whew.. NOT... the wonderful ppl I work with had me get up on a chair infront of 200+ people and they all sang Happy Birthday, it was pretty awesome!! Thanks guys!!

and the day progressed, went for drinks with 2 of my friends after work, then it was off to dinner with my sister, I really didn't feel like doing much, if I felt this blah at 29, can you imagine what 30 is gonna feel like? :( so I realize about an hour or so b4 dinner, that it was a surprise party, and of course the joker I am, I walk into the restaurant, and into the room and yell SURPRISE!!! of course I thought it was funny, but my poor sister had put a lot of work into planning the party and well I guess I didn't think about how she would react, she didn't say anything, but I know she was dissapointed, sorry Zayn! I guess I could have just played along... my bad....

the party was awesome, went to my uncles after and smoked some Shisha hung out and to bed for me... Saturday? that was eventful as well, went for breakfast/lunch with another 2 of my friends, and had terrible service from the pub staff.. it was a beautiful day though! dumb blonde waitress wearing a bikini top and shorts (the things ppl do for tips these days) but at least we were sitting on the patio in +27ish weather :) :) we left, and guess what? they come running out to say we didn't leave enough money.. lol.. my guess is the waitress pocketed $5 off the table and then tried to get some more... the Toad and Turtle on Barlow and 32nd.. what a bunch of losers... the quote of the day? "umm we don't carry a float this early in the day" haha, sounds like real winners that work and run that place no doubt.. won't be goin back there anytime soon... losers... but it was good times.. the sun, the bike, ah gotta love Global Warming, it's not treating us too badly out here..

we usually get about 2 weeks of what I would call "summer" but so far, it's been like 2 months of it.. WOOHOOO!!

Came home to help a friend prep for an interview... gotta love Excel and Powerpoint, and then it was off to my uncles house to setup his TV, off to my cousins Birthday party, and then guess what? I went out that night, chilled with my other cuz and some friends at a nice lounge called the Mercury, and kept the married couple out until 4am... mmmm went for what normally is good Chinese food at 3am.. got Ginger Beef that was PINK inside... like honestly.. PINK.. dunno what mystery meat it was... I was told it might have been Ginger Chow Meow... haha... or maybe it was beef.. before the animal they served us ATE IT!! lol...

and then the best part of the whole weekend? I got to do something that I haven't done in a loooong time... slept in on Sunday until... ya, you guessed it, 4:30pm!!!! kick ass!

and then it was back to work on Monday :)

pretty sweet birthday weekend after all

hope you are all doing well, my apologies for not keeping this as updated as I did a year ago, but I hope you still are reading and checking it out.

take care!

So was in Houston this weekend for a wedding, got to walk.. ahem, heel across the tarmac and Houston International Airport b/c the Jetway was not working properly... :) that was funn.. then we realized that the stupid airport has NOTHING, I mean NOTHING open to eat late at night... grrrr...

The wedding was fun, kept getting asked when I'm gonna get married... my response?

I want, 10 Cows, 2 Camels, 4 Chickens, and a bag of rice... then I'll agree to meet her

pretty much kept the family at bay for the whole time... it was nice and hot and muggy but the freakin mosquitoes need to die... grrrr....

so get this, go to leave Houston, and aside from my passport pic making me look like a terrorist, I beep the metal detector 3 times (forgot a metal card holder in my pocket) and got patted down and the whole deal... and Zayn got her bag checked b/c she had poker chips that looked like suspicious dark circles in her carry on... muhahaha

got back into town, my bike wasn't ready, got to ride a cheezy FZ6, I didn't like it very much :(

Not a fan...

anywayz, back now, got my bike back, all pretty and all... off to Golden on Sunday!! should be a fun ride I hope :) :)

that's really all I have, work is busy, very very busy, somewhat stressing me out, but for sure some great experience...

aiight, time to go watch movie :)

Wow, it's been a month?

OMG, it's been a long time since my last update... I guess that's what happens when you're not travelling the world and having fun, you get caught up in that silly little thing called life....

Stress is when you wake up screaming, and realize that you haven't fallen asleep yet

So it's been fun, I've been kickin' it with my Heelys all ovet the place, finally hit up Costco by my place, so much fun, Heelys + Shopping Carts X Shiny Concrete Floor = A Big Kids playground... I took about 2-4 steps per aisle, rolling with the shopping cart... ha ha

I've been working lots, got a pretty good gig here in Calgary, so it looks like I'm stickin around for a while. Gonna be running the Network Operations Centre for a consulting company in town, it should be a lot of fun! my first week has been pretty crazy, but so far, so good.

I picked up a new toy to play with while I'm here :)

it's been keeping me entertained for the last few weeks no doubt!

Also been working for a few other clients like mad, but it's a good busy and I'm glad to have the work!

My Sister came by the other day and we ended up getting pretty silly and made a Cake Monster.... how and why, I have no clue.. but there is a pic!

I'm off to Vancouver next weekend and Toronto the weekend after, got weddings galore this summer, it's gonna fun & crazeeeeee......

I'm off to bed, hope you're all doing good (and hopefully still reading)

Heelys

So i've been busy again, watching way too much TV, finished 24 hours of 24 in one week :) the new season rocks!!! been playing with my heelys they ain't as easy as they look, luckily I haven't killed myself or bailed too badly yet... a few close calls tho...

Work is going well, wrapping up another short stint and looking for a new one, trying to decide what my next step is... life is a little too complicated sometimes.... where's a magic 8 ball when you need one.

Spent last Sat with kids all day, it was quite the experience, tiring, but very rewarding, the morning started off with a group of Grade 9 Kids, followed by an evening with 3 adorable little girls 10, 6, and 3 and then capped off with a 'camping trip' with a 3 year old... what a day! I'm not sure how parents get the strength and energy, but I'm amazed at what all of you are able to accomplish on a daily basis.

Got a poker game coming up on Saturday, looks like 12 people so far, should be good times I hope, lets just hope I win ;)

that's about it, hope y'all are doing good out there and that your new year is off to a good start... I have updated the picture galleries and will be putting some more out there by the end of the week (got a bit of spare time while I wait for more server accessories)

Another Sad Story

People really have to stop doing this kind of crap.

It hits home even more, because I've been here, and walked on this beach

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

sorry, it's been while since my last update, been busy with lots of stuff...

I finished my course, passed and wrote the exam a week and a bit later, I'm now officially a Vmware Certified Professional (VCP) which is great, can't wait to make use of the skills.

Benn playing with my server at home, ordered a drive array for it which comes in soon!! I'll be torn between that and the pair of heelys that are in the mail :)

Played with the new Sony wireless home theatre system (not really wireless, but good)

Ate heaps of turkey and xmas food over the holiday, must have gained a few pounds no less, but got to work it off last night at the Whiskey for their New Years Eve bash, it was quite a good time, tons of fun, and actually one of the most pleasant New Years Eve's I've had in a very very long time... my friend lost her brand new phone which really sucked, and we had street pizza to end off the night..mmmmm...beef and mushroom. hehe had some random chic at the bar tell a guy I was her boyfriend and we traded hey boyfriend hey girlfriend greetings at each other the whole night...classic.. danced up a storm, and got to watch Calgary beat Edmonton in the hockey game on the big screen,.... I can truly say I've never danced while staring at a hockey game on a projector in a suit before..lol

and then the best part of the whole night!! came home, got ready for bed, then came downstairs and watched 4 hours straight of my favorite show 24 it was awesome, I was quite excited and by about 8am was ready to pass out, and I did. It's 3pm now and I'm gonna get off the couch, have some brekky and get back to 24... only 20 hours to go !!!

hope you all had an awesome new years eve, and that you all have a wonderful, prosperous, and happy 2006!!!

Back from TO

Sorry for the long delay between updates... just got back from Toronto

What a good trip, it was nice and warm, well warmer than the 22 Degrees (minus that is) in Calgary, now I'm back, brr brr brr

Grandma is doing aiight, metup with a few people, rushed as always, but it was fun and good times as always. Amazing to see everybody

now its off to a course for a few days and then back to work :) then I gotta study for an exam... it's been a looong time since I've had to be in a class and then study for an exam... geez!

can't beleive the number of family and friends that are harassing me to get married, I'm not that old, am I?

the flight into Calgary was awesome, the food in Toronto was great, and well worth the trip (thanks to A for the Buddy Passes, made for a cheap flight!!)

Boy do I have a lot to learn

I got a new toy yesterday, a Compaq DL380 G2 server... it's sweet

so I'm learning exactly why they are so expensive, these things are very well engineered, and the support that you get from HP is pretty awesome. Thank god for ebay else this thing would have cost an arm and a leg. Now I have to go back to the books and play around with it, vmware, Windows 2003 server and basically get up to speed for my course in December, should be fun, a learning experience at the least.... hopefully I get over this cold I have by then...

anyways, back to the toys :)

More Bad News....

Had to put our cat down today, we had given her to another family to take care of, but I guess the stress got to her and they figure she had a heart condition, which led to a blood clot moving down her aorta and blocking a vein into her leg, she was in tremendous pain, couldn't breathe well, had fluid in her lungs, and the decision was made to put her down. I am going to miss her dearly.

Rest in Peace Suki

Paper, Rock, Scissors

Thought for the Day

I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can
beat scissors, but there's no f*cking way paper can beat rock. Paper is
supposed to magically "wrap around" rock, rendering it immobile?

Why the hell can't paper do this to scissors?
Screw scissors, why can't Paper do this to people?
Why aren't sheets of notebook paper constantly Suffocating students as they attempt to take notes in class?

I'll tell You Why--

BECAUSE PAPER CAN'T BEAT ANYBODY! A rock would tear that shit up
in 2 seconds. When I play rock/paper/scissors, I always choose rock.
Then when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, I punch them
in the face with my already Clenched fist and say, "Oh sh*t, I'm sorry. I
thought that paper would protect you"

Back from Van

Back from a wonderful trip to Van, got there after a slight delay with Scare Canada, but thankfully they made up for it in the air. Got in on time, picked up my midsize rental ($20 a day with Thrifty, from the Airport!!) but it happened to be a Dodge Caravan... woohoo... I got to drive a minivan, I felt so old...lol..

Friday went downtown, had a great breakfast at the Crowne Plaza (thanks Hafeez!), then had to eat right away again at a really nice Hong Kong style Cafe (mmmm steak..Thanks Imraan!), then it was off to Metrotown for Starbucks and that nite we hit the Au Bar, what a wicked club, got to see Marlon and Sean Wayans there, along with the gay guy from the Longest Yard, pretty casual bunch, just chilled and had a good time, I danced it up and then drove everybody back home safely (thank god I don't drink), saw a nice fight inside the bar where a guy dropped a bouncer, then the bouncers proceeded to beat the shit out of him on the way out of the club before depositing his ass on the curb... poor guy..not, idiot got up again and tried to go after the bouncers, good thing his friends stopped him... silly silly drunk people. Got some sweet ass pictures in the club no doubt... even got to make a 'crossanwich' lol...

Had 2 girls jumping on me at 9 am, slept till 2pm, got up, and headed out, actually stood in line (In line!!) at a restaurant called Anton's pasta bar.. supposedly really good, but gave up after about 20 mins outside in the rain and we headed over to Samba, a fairly decent brazillian all-you-can eat joint.. the food was aiight, service was half decent, overall not a bad deal, but a little pricey at $27/person

checked out a fru fru market called Urban Fare, had some cappa and dessert and it was home to bed... my Aunt has this cat named Sasha, get this, she paints her nails on special occasions, even told me a story of how after going to the vet, decided to reschedule a procedure until later so that she could have time to explain it to the cat... so sweet.. they treat the cat like a member of the family, it's pretty cool...

Met up with fam and friends on Sunday, and then it was off to the airport, got there early, so thanks to the wonderful people at WestJet (and $10) I was able to catch the earlier flight back home (good thing it was delayed by 12 minutes) the landing was pretty awesome, you could see the city, and then we were flying through fog, and BAM!!! we were on the ground, the runway came out of nowhere, pretty awesome... oh and the satellite TV they have on board rocks!!

anyhoo, off to bed and work tomorrow, hope y'alls are doing aiight...

peace

Just got back from on heck of a field trip

So for work I got to go the the Cold Lake Air Weapons Range

Flew out of Calgary on a nice twinprop (no security check, no lines, no hassle) out to Bonnyville Alberta (Top Right on the map)

and from there I had a nice Ford F-150 4x4 waiting for me to drive the 120kms to the plant, had to stop for a quickie orientation before going onto the weapons range (don't touch anything that looks like a bomb or missile)

the work there was fun and productive, it's actually a very beautiful landscape with big trees and flat plains and quite nice and calming...

on the way back the plane had so much turbulence I had a kick ass smile on my face as it went left...and right... and got tossed around pretty good as we came back into calgary... heaps of fun, especially being able to see out of the front of the plane as we approached the runway... almost better than a roller coaster (I said almost)

Overall a great trip, good experience and I made it back without getting eaten by a Caribou, Deer, Bear or Turtle ;)

Wow, it wasn't like this when I stayed there

Here's an article on a resort that I went to a few years ago, yes it was fairly adult oriented, but boy did I miss out

Facial Recognition

Wow so hectic since i've been back.. it's madness...

Went to see the Jay Sean, Juggy D, Rishi Rich concert in Edmonton :(
Drove the long drive to Edmonton, checked into hotel where the concert was being held... lots of indian people... I guess that's expected when you're going to an Indian Fusion concert.

There were of course waay too many brown people there, it was like I was back in Africa or the middle east... not bad though... aside from all the fights and pushing and shoving, and childish behaviour

Now granted I already knew what to expect by a disfunctional function as this was going to be, but I was a little surprised that it was this bad.. the doors opened late, full on security checks, disorganized line up (in the freezing cold) was supposed to open at 7:30, we got in at 11:30 .. thank god we sat at the coffee shop in the hotel until then... I woulda been pished to have to wait outside for 4 hours...

It's a really small world though, ran into Amit, Vinnie, Sham, Daisy, Raman and Gaggan, and Zahra from Nairobi, thank god they recognized me. It took me a while to recognize them... I guess I've just been away for waay too long... maybe I should start taking Remember-Fx

Got asked to model for a fashion show in November, see if that comes through.. :)

8 cop cars, fights, stupid people that can't keep their space... generally a bunch of rejects all in all, but still a wickedly amazing concert!

Went to West Edmonton mall, can't afford shit, saw this amazing!! Bose Lifestyle 48 series demo, just blew me away at the amazing sound quality and the great features... however, the $4000+ price tag is beyond reason for a sound system... :(

Then of course the wonderful, cruise control aided drive back... oh can't forget breakfast at mmm..mmm...Denney's!

Frickin Snow

So we got snow already!! WTF? lucky for us it was just a dusting and all is melted by the time I got home, but I mean, really? it's not even october yet...

picked up my drycleaning last night, 2 suits and a shirt... fricking frack $40 bux later... I mean for 40 bux I can buy a suit (albeit from the Salvation Army)

Went to Edmonton for a birthday party, saw some fool with a Monkey in the truck... an actual monkey, with a diaper and all.. no wonder the guy was driving like a frickin idiot...

In other exciting news, I'm going to go see the Jay Sean/JuggyD/Rishi Rich concert in Edmonton this weekend... should be frickin awesome... I hope... it'll be interesting to say the least... here's to good times at pak-jamz

and yes, the word of the day is Frickin... say it.. you know you want to... ;)

Only in Hick Town

Saw the funniest thing today... leaving the movie theatre, I saw a nice Benz with a trailer trash pickup truck parked a little too close to it.. thinking geez, the driver is gonna be a tad pissed when he comes back to his car.... then I saw what was parked next to the pickup, a cube van that had it's mirror flush against the pickups mirror (which is attached to the drivers door)

The dilemma that appears here is that the benz can't leave without getting in the passenger side and scooting over if he doesn't want to damage his door... the Pickup dud can't open his door b/c the mirror is against the cube van's mirror, and would have to get in on the passenger side, but would probably dent the benz in the process... now, even if he did get in from the passenger side and scooted over, he can't go forward b/c of the van's mirror, and can't go in reverse b/c the mirror would catch on the van's 'cube'.... the only option is for the cube van to leave, then the pickup, then the benz... pretty twisted eh? dunno how and why this occurred to me, am assuming I need to go and get some professional help...

Saw Redeye that night and here's my review...
Redeye as a movie sucked ass....not as convincing as it should have been, but overall good movie, Rachel McAdams was good looking enough to pull the movie off, but it was fairly predictable.

Off to Edmonton tonite for a birthday party, got a flat tire replaced at Wal-Mart (well they had to replace 2 tires...$$$..sniff...sniff...), went and helped Michelle buy a computer from FutureShop...now as far as small world goes... I hear this really loud crash and noise from a movie that was playing in the home theatre section... now I need to find out what system sounds THAT good, so I head over, about to ask the sales guy which system it is, and the sales guy happens to be none other than a distant cousin of mine that I met in Nairobi when I was there last...pretty crazy eh?

ok, and I have to admit that I am a bit of a geekoid and am really excited about setting up a new office for someone here in Calgary, Color Lasers, Duplex MFC's, VPN, Firewalls, NAS, and tonnes o other fun stuff....

so when I went the other day to pick it up, parked at a meter on the street, went up, got the stuff, and as I came down the gal says, oh, you didn't get a ticket? I'm thinking nope, I paid the meter (proudly of course). Put the stuff in the car and I'm thinkin.. I got some time, I'll go get a coffee... as I close the door, I see a guy giving another dude a ticket, now this guy has money in the meter, so I'm wonder why the hell is he getting a ticket? WTF? I look closer at the signs? it's a no stopping area from 3:30 - 5:30... as the ticket guy turns to walk towards my car, I jump in and drive away... hee hee.. I felt like I was the getaway driver...

off to take a nap so I can do this drive to Edmonton... yuck...

Get back to work!!!

Hehe, so I'm back at work, I've decided to keep the blog going, maybe not as often as I used to, but I will keep at it, it's kinda therapeutic in a way....

So I'm Back at work, it's kinda weird to be back, it really feels like I haven't left, working with a great bunch of people again! can't ask for much more...

Decided to take the Damn C-Train the other day, I really have to wonder what kind of people design these things.... went to the station, of course at 7:00AM there's no bloody parking at the train station.. I mean WTF? it's a 40 minute+ bus from my house to the train station, so I figure I'll drive there and take the train, good for the environment, good for gas, good to save money, good cuz I don't gotta pay for parking... but noooo... there's no freaking parking at the station (aside from the not big enough lot they have)... WHATS THE POINT?!?!? arrgh... I guess I'll just have to drive and park Early Bird... $11 bux a day... bloody hell...

Saw the cutest White (Big ass) 3-Legged Dog from the window in the office, it was so cute... amazing how it was getting along and moving with it's left front leg missing... saw it the next day too, this time the owner was around... wonder what happened to it...

I'm hooked on the telly again, been watching loads of it since I got back, can't seem to get the motivation to start cleaning up or packing......

A backpackers tale..

Received this on email, how true it is.....

To all backpackers, ex-backpackers and wannabies;

Having trouble readjusting to life back at home now that the
travelling is over? Here's a few handy hints to help you settle
back in.

1) Replace your bed with two or more bunk beds, and every night
invite random people to sleep in your bedroom with you. Ensure
at least! once a week a couple gets drunk and shags on one of the
top bunks. Remove beds one by one as symptoms improve

2) Sleep in your sleeping bag, forgetting to wash it for
months. Add some bugs in order to wake up with many unsightly bites
over your arms and legs

3) Enlist the help of a family member to set your radio alarm
to go off randomly during the night, filling your room with loud
talking. This works best if the station is foreign. Also have several
mobiles ringing, without being answered. To add to the torture,
ask a friend to bring plastic bags into your room at roughly 6 in the
morning and proceed to rustle them for no apparent reason for a
good half an hour

4) Keep all your clothes in a rucksack. Remember to smell them
before puting them on and reintroduce the use of the iron
SLOWLY

5) Buy your favourite food, and despite living at home, wr! ite
your name and when you might next be leaving the house on a ll bags.
This should include mainly pasta, 2 minute noodles, carrots and beer

6) Ask a family member to every now and again steal an item of
food, preferably the one you have most been looking forward to
or the most expensive. Keep at least one item of food far too long or
in a bag out in the sun, so you have to spend about 24 hours within
sprinting distance of the toilet

7) Even if it's a Sunday, vacate the house by 10a.m., and then
stand on the corner of the street looking lost. Ask the first
passer-by of similar ethnic background if they have found
anywhere good to go yet

8) When sitting on public transport (the London Tube would be
ideal) introduce yourself to the person sitting next to you,
say which stop you got on at, where you are going, how long you have been
travelling and what university you went to. If they say they
are going to Morden,! say you met a guy on the central line who said it
was terrible and that you've heard Parsons Green is better and cheaper

9) Finally stick paper in your shower so that the water comes
in just a drizzle. Adjust the hot/cold taps at regular intervals
so that you are never fully satisfied with the temperature. Because of
this frustration, shower infrequently. These simple but effective
instructions should help you fall back into normal society with
the minimum effort. Good luck!

HaHa, good blonde joke

A TIMELY ONE

A girl was visiting her blonde friend, who had acquired two new dogs, and asked her what their names were. The blonde responded by saying that one was named Rolex and one was named Timex.

Her friend said, "Whoever heard of someone naming dogs like that?"

"HELLLOOOOOOO......," answered the blond. "They're watch dogs!"

Busy busy day, catching up with people, the last few days have been hectic as well, it is good to be back, a reminder of how small Calgary really is hits you as you walk down the street, or sit in your car and run into people you know, crazy crazy...

I get to go tomorrow morning and work!! YAY, got to evaluate an office in the NE and plan out a wireless network for them...Exciting stuff for sure!!! I'm such a geek...

Oh and my MP3 player Drama continues... I have an old MP3 player from a year ago (Creative Rhomba) that has stopped working... called creative.. no warranty and $75 dollars to fix... yech... might as well buy a new one.... I'll never win... :(

Good Old Calgary!

So it feels like nothing has changed, almost like I went to bed and woke up with all these memories. It's good to be back, catching up with friends and family, learned how to play Texas Hold 'em, just got back from a game, didn't do too badly, until I went all in and lost a pair of fours to a straight... yeesh... saw the 40 Year old virgin yesterday, good movie, you should go see it if you have a chance, absolutely hilarious.

I got the chance to ride a nice bike the other day, took Mike's CBR600RR out for a rip to Khane, that was awesome, that thing is so light, it didn't even feel like I was on it, and fast, and nimble, hit about 160km/h in an 80 zone..lol, weaving in and out of traffic, it was fun.

I'm exploring my options for what to do, looking at opportunities in Cairo, Nairobi, Australia and maybe even Vancouver, here's a real quick and dirty version of my resume, if anybody knows anybody, please let me know, or pass on the link

http://resume.jobnet.com.au/resume/fhirani.html

i'm hoping to figure out something next week.. Do have a 2 month opp with the company I used to consult for, but I'll have to wait and see what happens.

hope all is well with everybody else out there!

Filthy Bugger

I'm in Singer Island near Palm Beach, Florida right now... made the long ass journey from Sydney, after almost 36-40 hours in transit... :( I have never wanted to have a shower that badly before.. yuck yuck yuck

Short version is Sydney to Nadi (4 hour flight), 4 Hour stopover in Nadi, Nadi to LAX (10 Hours), 8 Hour Stopover in LA, LAX to Orlando (5 Hour Flight), Orlando to Singer Island (3 hour drive)

it's good to be back in the homeland, had to have brekkie at Denny's of course, and it was so yummy, I felt like a prison inmate who just got released, having his first taste of freedom and the outside world (and it was good to drive on the proper side of the road at excessive speeds with the music cranked)

off in 2 days for the cruise..

I'm Leaving, on a jet plane

I'm about to get on my flight from Sydney to Fiji, then LAX, then Orlando, WOOOHOOO

it's a nice sunny day in Sydney and I really do not want to leave here, but alas, the sun awaits me.

I'm guessing I'll be back in Calgary within 2 weeks or so, :( just in time for winter... or Winta as the Aussies call it.

Regrets

Did something today that I regret, however, I'm not sure what else I could have done....

Went for dinner in an area called Surry Hills, not exactly the best area in Sydney, as we got out of the car and headed towards the main road from the parking lot, someone bumped into me as they walked the other way on the sidewalk.. intentionally, some kid, being the non confrontational person I am, I turned around, and even though I knew it was intentional, said sorry. turning around I noticed that a group of youths were surrounding an asian kid at the bus stop, there was 4 or 5 of them I think... now it's about 8:30pm and dark outside, not a very well lit street, but at the same time, not too far from the main road. As Salima and I walked past them, I saw one of the kids grab the guy, another reached into his back pocket and there was a bit of a commotion, by this point we were past the bus shelter and couldn't see from the angle we were crossing the street at, but I knew in my head what was happening, instead of looking to see, I just walked on, not sure whether these kids had knives or how crazy they might be, I just walked away, heard the fear in the poor kids voice as he yelled help...help... it's the first time I've been in such a situation, but I just kept my back turned and walked away, as we got on the main road, we called the police and advised them of what we saw, we looked back and didn't see anybody there by the time we got the cops on the line...

I'm not sure what I could have done, yelled, helped the kid, made noise, take a picture of the rotten kids to get them to come after me as I ran like a girl into a restaurant or somethine, but all I thought about was to leave them alone so that they dont come and hurt us, me, I was worried about Salima and the stuff in my backpack, how selfish is that?

I know that I had lots of options as to what I could do, didn't think quick enough, and took the selfish way out.

on a lighter note, got to go for a really fun ride in a Turbocharged S2000 through the streets of Sydney, with the top down and the sun blaring in my face, the rumble of the exhaust in my ears, and a shit eating grin that lit up my eyes...

And as if that wasn't enough, Got to drive an Alfa Romeo Spyder tonite, that was fun, the car is a little rough on the suspension, sticky shifter, great 2nd gear and good overall power, but it doesn't come close to the S2000 (lots of legroom though!) .. Thanks Salima for letting me drive... another wonderful experience in good old Sydney

Ima goin on a Cruise!!!

So, just to add insult to injury...lol, to end my 8 month vacation, I'm flying out tomorrow to Orlando to go on a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise with the family ;) might as well end it well eh?

Royal Caribbean, Mariner of the Seas... I'm excited!!!

Also got to go for a ride in a Turbocharged S2000 today... nice and warm and sunny, made my day for sure!

Don't know when my next update will be, but I will keep you posted.

I wet myself..again

Overall not a bad day in Thailand, woke up early for aSunday (well, for me everyday is a Sunday...lol)

Met with a schoolmate of one of my dad's friends and his wife and their 3 adorable children. They moved here from Sydney 6 months ago. Hung out with them and then went for lunch at this local Thai restaurant, the food was incredible, fresh young coconut (you know how I like them young), ate this flossed catfish that was really good, along with fried ice cream, beef salad, and really good rotisserie chicken.

After that we went back to the apartment, and the kids and I hid around the corner from their mom and 'surprised' her when she opened the door and wondered where we all were (I'm such a kid). I headed off to the most wonderful place in the world.....

Chatuchak Market, after a snooze in the taxi, almost getting soaked in a monsoon (ok I'm exaggerating) I entered the market, anything and everything you would ever want to buy fro souveniers, home decorations, fod, clothes, you name it, they got it, it was incredible... I bought some stuff (even though I didn't need it..lol) but wish that I could have bought a lot more of it...

Took the Subway for the first time, it's actually quite nice and modern... not something you would expect to see in Bangkok, it's amazing, despite being a 'poor' country, they really have their shit together, if only the bloody africans could figure this out and stop robbing and beating and shooting and mugging people, they too could be enjoying the good life of a big city like this.

As for the title of this, I walked into a mall called Pantip, where I found myself immersed among 5 floors of nothing but MP3 Players, Computers, Digital Cameras (found the one that I have..only seen it twice on my trip, once in London and here), printers, monitors, any and everything to do with tech.... I was in HEAven!!!!

bought more music...it's an addiction I swear.... gotta do something about it. any therapists out there that can help me?

Made my way back to the hotel, put my shit away, had a shower, changed into another one of my new T-Shirts, and then metup with Dusadee and Tony (i met Dus on the Chiang Mai trip) we hit up this really nice place on a side street (gotta love that about Bangkok, everything that's good is hidden away somewhere).

Afterwards we went to Arise the wicked club that's on Rambuttri road... but there wasn't anybody there, so after a drink we took off... I wanted to go see the Ping Pong Show in PatPong....

Good Old Bangkok.. Anybody want a massage?

lol, it's nutz here, It's so much better when you are not sick. Been wandering around town, dropped off my glasses to get fixed, checked into the hotel (make sure you book in advance, the rate sux if you just show up) it's the Viengtai hotel on Rambuttri road (a block from KhaoSan Road) and you can book it via Hostelworld.com

hmm...what else, got a Thailand number good for the 3 days that I'm here, can't believe that I just barely made it into the store to get it, but am amazed at how cheap rates are here, 99 baht for the Sim, and then local airtime is 6 baht per minute (now at 32 baht to each Canadian Dollar, that's pretty cheap). Long distance sux though, 18 baht on a crappy line to Nairobi.. but still overall pretty sweet!

found myself in the middle of the 'red light' district, everybody wanting to sell me a massage or a ping pong show... :) almost went and got my tongue pierced, but the shop was closed when I got there... :( bought a load of T-shirts... and a CD/MP3 Player... I can't beleive the shit I go through for music. After the Elio blew up in Nairobi, like really, the drive is toast. now I am craving to listen to all this music that I have, so after some gruelling bargaining, got a Sony MP3/CD player for 1900 Baht (60bux or so), which isn't too bad of a deal I guess... seriously though, with all the music devices I have now, I should have just bought a freakin iPod.

Here are some of the shirts I bought.

THREESOME - Because 2 Heads are better than one

I'M PERVERTED

CANNABIS (In the design of the Canadian Flag)

"Do you remember the times we fall in love" (has cupid dying from an arrow to the chest)

"So he's the one that killed your dad" (Shows two chickens looking at a pic of Col. Sanders)

had a nice hot shower, and hit the sack after chatting on the phone for a bit, mobiles are amazing....

anyways, off for another fun filled day...

In Bangkok

Woohoo, back in Bangkok after a gruelling 9 and a half hour flight on Kenya Airways..

It's hot and muggy, I desperately miss Nairobi and everybody there.

The plan is to sort out some loose ends here (gotta get my glasses fixed) and then it's off to Sydney, and then Fiji for 5 days! need to refresh my tan.

sorry for the lack of updates, but I'm back to civilization now... My east coast stories and trip to the Kakamega Rainforest are pending...

Old Age and Jailbait

Hello Everybody!!

so here I am still chillin in Nairobi, was supposed to go to see my friend Naomi in Kakamega last week, but my body had other plans, and gave me a good eye infection to keep me in bed for most of the week, feeling better now though...

Highlights of the last week have been a surprise bday party my dad gave me on Thursday, god I feel old... the big 28. Woke up feeling lethargic, and achy... :( :( we went to this really cool new hotel/shopping centre called Panari Sky Centre / Hotel, the place is awesome, not like anything you would expect to see in East Africa, the place is beautiful, nice furniture, wicked decor, looks like something you would expect to see in a European country. We ate at a new brazilian restaurant where it's all you can eat salad bar and meats served to you at the table.. tres cool, they give you this little red/green circular card that's about the size of a coaster, and if it's on the green side up, they will come by with all sorts of fresh meat and put it on your plate, if the card is red side up, then they won't bother you.

They got me this heavenly chocolate cake, and I drank meself a cappucino, and then it was off to a place a few floors up called Pasha. This is one heck of a coffee/sheesha lounge. Chilled there, overdosed on Apple and Strawberry Sheesha, the old people went home early, and few of us chilled and chatted before getting a partial tour of the hotel lobby (WOWEE KAZOWEE) and then back home it was. Good times no doubt.

Next highlight so far was going to Carnivore (yes I do have a problem). but we went for the Miss Indo-Kenya Beauty Pageant. umm, this was way too much fun, thanks to the obnoxious brits behind us, my smart ass comments, and the glaring and apparent lack of training and brains that these poor girls have.... I do have to say though, that it was a very organized presentation for the most part (if you have ever been to a function put on by brown people, you'll know how well they can 'organize' an event)

There was an excellent local dance troupe that did one heck of a job, good music, good moves, and great outfits, definately a class act... now that the good part is done... lol.. the girls were for the most part fairly attractive, pretty young in some cases, but not bad, 5 out of the 6 that I picked made it to the finalz, so I'd say I'm a good judge of talent no less... ;) but my god, some of these girls did not know how to walk, how to hold a microphone (honey, you're not gonna be sucking on it, so don't hold it like that) and were just plain...lets be PC and say...umm.. slow... first of all, some of the answers given were pathetic to the intelligence portion of the event... and even more pathetic given the fact that the girls knew all of the questions ahead of time... there was a few that gave very intelligent and well spoken answers, and others that answered some very tough questions with some excellent and witty responses (of course remembering them is difficult for me), oh I remember one... "Your hair is really long, how long have you been growing it?"... "Since I was little".. ummm no shit sherlock... of course throughout the whole thing, I was giving my lovely jackass answers... par example "What do you think about the sharp increase in Plastic Surgery?" .. my answer would have been "Some people are just born ugly" or "Do you feel that a Single mom can do just as good a job as a family with both parents?" .. my answer .. "Umm yeah, she only has ONE child to take care of if she's single"
anyhow, overall, not a bad show, a little too much advertising.. but that's the way things go here... oh and at the end, one of the promoters or important people was on stage, and the brits behind me said... "shut up and get off the stage, youre fat and you have a shit speaking voice" to which I laughed, and the rest of the Indian crowd gave a dirty look (hey, it was true) and this woman kept rambling and rambling.... bleh...

as for the dancing afterwards, it was amazing, good music, good times... I spotted a fairly attractive girl dancing, looked at my cousin and got the comment "She's in Alisha's (my younger cousin...14 years old) school..." at which point I realized, that I'm going to hell, on a one way ticket, and that I truly am old... when you can no longer tell the difference between 15 and 18 or 20, you are an old man, a dirty old man, and should not be going to nightclubs anymore...
ya right... like that's gonna happen.... I'm not that old (the other day I pulled a muscle in my back... wanna know how? yawning first thing in the morning) shit I mean, I think my warranty is almost up... starting to break down piece by piece... I'm pretty sure I'm not a Ford...but now to get into the car, I have to sit sideways and then turn b/c I can't bend my neck enough to clear the roof of the car.... :(

In any event, so far so good. Learnt a few new things in the last few weeks... if a mouse is bugging you, and the wheel is dirty, flip the mousepad over and use the rubber side... or .. that men have a form of PMS as well... it's called SRH ... Sperm Retention Headache...

Too Cold....

It's too cold in Nairobi.... gets down to about 7-10C at night...brrr... but it is getting hotter as we speak (YAY)..

The Raghav concert was aiight, ran into lots of people and surprised the hell out of my cousins... it was pretty awesome... danced until about 5am I think... sweet!

The week was not too bad, did some running around, got some stuff done, copied heaps of music onto the office computer... :) gotta update the Elio so I have shizzy to listen to... it's good music too, picked up a Ministry of Sound box set called The Annual 2005... wicked anthems on that one!

I'm off to the forest (Kakamega) to visit Naomi on Monday, freakin 8 hour bus ride there, then I'm only there for a day and an 8 hour bus ride back, so that I'm in Nairobi on the 21st for my Birthday...!!!! Can't beleive I'm gonna be 28... eeewww... Almost 30, been getting the regular lecture from my dad that it's time to get married and have kids... ... give me a break... not now... please...
anybody up for a paper marriage and a token child?

anyways, got to do some fun hacking on a Motorola V3 the other day, managed to get the tools together and hack it to store messages on the phone instead of the sim card, it's amazing the genius of people that come up with these tools and figure out where all these settings are and what they do, for a geek like me, it's fun to use them and get them working and do shit like hacking into phones... :) plus I get paid in Food to do this work.. can it get much better? maybe I can become a street urchin and have a sign "will fix computers for food" I think that would work, I'd never be hungry...

anyways, I'm outty, time for breakfast (It's almost noon) but I didn't wake up until 10:30am lol... I love vacation... everyday is a sunday!!

In Nairobi!

Stuck at the Amari Bangkok Airport....

So here I am... rush my ass from khane and some really good food to the airport, only to find out Kenya Airways couldn't deliver the fucking plane on time... it's stuck in Hong Kong with a "mechanical problem" so it looks like I'm spending the night in class.... :) I guess I can't complain, I just hope I make it to Nairobi at a decent time tomorrow.

Today was a very busy busy day, from waking up early, catching my flight from Samui to Bangkok, passing out on the plane... cold... checking my bag through to Nairobi (hope it's safe, they cut the lock the last time around)

Got to Bangkok safe and sound, jumped on the airport bus to get my plane tickets sorted out...then the driver forgot to tell me my stop, so I ended up wandering the streets, found a place to get my glasses fixed, they'll order new lenses for me and replace them when I get back to Bangkok... :) ended up finding some crazy taxi driver that offered to drive me to where I needed to go for 20baht... ya right.. but anyways, took the ride, went to some cheesy tailor shop so that the guy could get free gas, then went to the STA Travel office.. and the taxi dude bailed on me... figured he wasn't getting any commision off of me...

changed all my tickets...got a refund on one of them to pay for the other which wasn't a bad deal.

Anyways, wandered the streets aimlessly, went and dropped my bags off at the suit place after trying them on... damn I look hot... got a comment about my green hair, so I attempted to find a place that had blue.. not bloody likely, they wanted 1200 - 1500 baht for it... fuck that noise.. ended up in the local markets with people looking at me funny, one lady even just looked at me in her store, said "NO" and shooed me out... WTF?

Decided to take a taxi to the same hair place I went to the first time, after eating great sushi and Udon at a japanese place in the Mall... nice mall mind you, but bloody expensive...

got my hair done, and bought a tube of the color so that I can get it redone when it goes green again...lol... BTW: Anybody want a Student Card? email me and lemme know, they are realy cheap in Thailand... along with drivers licenses and press cards...

now at this point I was in a mad rush to get to the Tailors to pick up my shit, traffic was hell, so I jumped on the back of a motorcycle taxi as he booked in inbetween traffic, along the lines, across oncoming traffic.. it was madness... but he got me there in really good time... :) gave him a bit of a tip... a whole 20 baht... love this country...

Then it was a mad rush to make it to Khane, but managed to get there, thanks to the guys at the Tailor Shop, if you're ever in Bangkok, check them out, great service, very personal, and they do a good job, tell them Feisal from Canada referred you

made it to Khane aiight, nice place, very hospitable people, but I had to leave after a quick dinner to make my flight... should have checked ahead, would have realized that the damn thing is delayed!

oh well, here's where I get to stay ;)

Stop the violence....

Just heard about the bomb blasts in London, fuck, when is this shit gonna end, as a human race we really have to stop killing each other, there's so much more to life.

To all who are affected, my prayers are with you, I hope that you are all ok.

mmm....bike....

Ok. now I know I said I wouldn't but I couldn't resist... rented a Kawasaki ZX9R 900cc Ninja today... hee hee... took it for a rip around the island.. loads of fun it was... went to the shooting range, shot a 9mm, .38 Super, and an AK-twenty something machine gun... I'm not that bad out of practice.. hit the targets fairly well. Saw some kewl views on the bike, went and visited the grandfather and grandmother rock, you may have seen them in an email forward somewhere... not bad, they are a lot smaller that I thought... well actually I just saw the grandfather rock, couldn't be bothered to figure out which one was the grandmother... plus once you've seen one, you've seen 'em all... rocks that is.. ;)

ripped back into town, ate at this impeccable restaurant called Prego, it was quite good italian food, the Chef, Marco has been here for 10 years and just opened the place up 2 years ago, amazing decor and the atmosphere is very kewl, with flowing water, and great lighting accents... the flavor in the food is excellent and the sundried tomatoes..mmm...and fresh parmesan..mmm..mmm... and very very cheap... 300baht... which is expensive for Thailand, but cheap for what you get.

anywayz, I'm out, it'll be a bit before you get another post from me... until then.. ta

Updates...

Made a ton of updates for you guys and gals, the last week is up, enjoy...!
Start with the Great Train Adventure on the right....

Watching the Muay Thai fight last night was pretty cool, although, not as exciting as one would think... did see one knockout and I think the rest of the 8 fights were all decisions after 5 rounds... but entertaining nonetheless... the highlight was what they call Super-Boys... little kids, probably no older than 12 or so, kicking the shit out of each other in the ring... pretty strong little guys...

Made it to the Black Moon party.. WOW... if you get a chance, make sure you check out one of the moon parties if ever in Thailand... it's like this big beach, heaps of people, black lights... loud music, what an atmosphere.... I got sugar highed on like 3 pepsi's and basically danced the night away... got a glow tattoo of a lizard on my neck, and went nutz.. a great feeling of euphoria comes over you as you realize that nobody knows you, and you can dance like the idiot you are... woohooo!!!! plus the sand makes a very interesting dance floor, along with the lights, fatigue, a sugar high, and the really loud and good dance techno euro music that they play.... at about 3:30 am it started to get scary... heaps of Thai people (mostly 'girls') came to the party and it was pretty jammed on the dance floor, but I had to try so hard to repel them... it was like being at Calypso Hut 3 in Missisauga about a decade ago (sob, I'm old) if you made eye contact, they would come over and try and dance with you... after the ladyboy incident at the cabaret, I ran like hell, no eye contact, and basically just do your own thing... saw lots of tourists making out, gringing with, and full on going home with these girls... I just hope for their sake, that they are girls... eeeww... forget coyote ugly in the morning... this would be 10 times worse... I did have one offer to do anything I wanted... but I told her she'd have to pay for me... 3000baht for one night...she laughted and offerred me 10... I had to decline.. I mean, I am easy... but I ain't that cheap...

got back home around 5am, passed the fuck out, and woke up at about 11, off to play with some guns and look at phallic rocks.... ta!
